OrthoRide™ utilizes a combination of orthopedic material to address common problems with saddle fit. The OrthoRide Saddle Pad uses inserts of PoronXRD® to absorb shock and impact at the contact of the saddle bars. PoronXRD® is currently used in professional athletic padding and is considered one of the best shock absorption technologies on the market today. Next we use memory foam to fill in gaps that may occur with the saddle that do not exactly match the shape of the horses back, this ensures a snug fit. Lastly we line the entire bottom of the pads with orthopedic grade felt. This ensures comfort for your horse while wicking away sweat.
Yes. Probably half of our customers are buying OrthoRide™ saddle pads to just due to the horses having less pressure / pain on the withers. Long trail rides, roping, barrel racing or other performance events can add pain at the horse's withers when the bars of the saddle rest. PoronXRD® is the material that we use in in the saddle pad. PoronXRD® has amazing properties of being thin and lightweight yet having tremendous shock absorption. For good fitting saddles we recommend the 3/4 inch saddle pads.
PORON® urethane is an open cell foam used in the development of gaskets, protective gear, footwear, and even within parts of the Hubble Space Telescope. The flexible material is commonly chosen for its cushioning, padding, compression, and sealing properties.
PORON foam has high compression set resistance and a high degree of energy absorption. This foam has an open-cell design, which allows for greater resiliency and longevity, even after multiple impacts. Unlike other heavy Gel saddle pads or correction pads stuffed with cloth, Poron with last for years without significantly breaking down.
